The Future of Style
#1 - 27. Jul 2012 17:29
I spent about an hour cleaning up to 300 spam posts today. I haven't been cleaning much lately so it became a lot of spam to delete. While I was doing this, I started thinking of this site and how dead it actually is. Do we really want it to stay online for as long as possible? As far as I know, someone (Christian?) is still paying to keep it online, but is that really necessary nowadays? Moviemaking, or moviemaking within the "Style family" is pretty much dead, so is there any point keeping this site online any longer?
I even started a poll regarding this matter.
Also wanted to ask if any of you are still checking out the different sections of this site, the media section, news, interviews etc, to read or watch some old stuff? Or are you perhaps just visiting this site every now and then, in hope of seeing new forum threads or activity?
Will also cheer up the mood a bit by posting an old quote from an old Style member:

I visit practically every day and try to think of stuff to write on the news, but I dont check much GM stuff other than Style. I have some projects, but as studies take a lot of time they develop slow. I may release some old unseen betas, or finish a short SvsC spinoff.
I don't think the site is dead, just inactive cause there isnt any news. Spambots are a problem, though.

Even without active users Style must be up as ultimate archive of everything: lulz, drama, epic quotes etc...nostalgie.
just my two cents

I really think you should keep it alive, it is true that is kind of fading away, not too much posts lately or people working on full lenght moviemaking. I don't know if keeping the site costs money. You know, I don't see people trying to learn or really putting some feelings on moviemaking nowadays, perhaps it is time to walk away...

Keep it alive definitely. Can't you get your coder to add reCAPTCHA instead of that old CAPTCHA system you have right now? Add reCAPTCHA, add e-mail verification for new accounts (not sure if that function is active right now), even add reCAPTCHA while posting for registered users if needed. That will massively improve the spam situation. You won't even get any spam at all. And I don't think it's hard to code that stuff.

most of us are old enough now to quit conuter-strike moviemaking anyway. plus the professional cs scene is coming to an end, this is very likely ts last year - no cs at wcg, eswc, sec, etc etc.
i say keep the site alive for a year. but no longer than that, someone does have to pay for it.

Not advertising or anything, but our site ( www.authentic-pictures.net) is pretty much active.
